Student’s Legal Fight Continues

Six months ago, eight Plainfield North High School students were handcuffed, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly throwing water balloons and spraying Silly String on the seniors’ last day.

Two teachers who also sprayed Silly String at each other were never charged in the incident.

Seven students already pleaded guilty, but the family of one vows to fight the charges they call unfair.

And now, the family has a hip-hop record label with a motto of “If no one fights, no one cares in their corner as well.”

“This case really hasn’t been exposed yet,” said Kwesi Nantambu, a music producer from Atlanta who is fighting on behalf of Diego Person.

Person was a senior who was arrested after hundreds of students poured out in the hallway and chanted in celebration of the seniors last day in May. Police and district officials said the arrested students lobbed water balloons, some filled with hot sauce.

One student took a choppy cell phone video of the incident and posted it to YouTube, but the video has since been taken down.
