Marlins Overcome Last Legal Hurdle For New Downtown Stadium
There are no more legal reasons why the Florida Marlins cannot have its new desired downtown ballpark.
A judge rejected the last piece of a lawsuit Friday challenging the project.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jeri Beth Cohen said Friday that no voter referendum was required for the proposed new stadium’s financing plan.
The lawsuit challenging the plan for the stadium and other projects was taken out by auto dealer Norman Braman.
Braman said he plans to appeal the decision and says that he is ready to fight his case as far as the Supreme Court. With his legal history, he might mean it.
Braman has a track record of waging battles against the use of public money.
Currently Braman operates various car dealerships in both Miami-Dade County and Palm Beach County.
