Greater Boston Legal Services, a nonprofit that provides free legal services to the state’s poor and disabled population, has tapped Proskauer Rose LLP partner Steven Bauer as the newest member of its board, the organization said on Thursday.

Bauer is the head of Proskauer Rose’s Boston-based litigation practice.

Formed in 1976, GBLS is New England’s largest legal services organization, with a staff of close to 100 attorneys and paralegals.
